This new incubator is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, the Regional Ministry of Economy, Science and Digital Agenda of the Government of Extremadura, and the FUNDECYT-PCTEX Foundation.
The incubator is aimed at entrepreneurs and technology-based companies capable of addressing challenges and technological problems where augmented and virtual reality can add value, generating new business opportunities.
These technologies, known as immersive, significantly contribute to improvements in video games, fashion, real estate, renovations, logistics and transportation, industry, security, advertising, healthcare, talent management, e-commerce, experiential marketing, and education and training.
The Almendralejo center will feature laboratories equipped with cutting-edge technologies, programming rooms for visual environments with computer systems, screens, and servers, as well as audiovisual equipment.
The technology incubator is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2023. It will be located in the former National Center for Open Source Technologies (CENATIC) in Almendralejo and will involve an investment of two million euros, funded through FEDER funds and the Government of Extremadura.
NETWORK OF SPECIALIZED TECHNOLOGY INCUBATORS
The Pact for Science and Technology in Extremadura, in its commitment to infrastructure, refers to the development of a Network of Specialized Technology Incubators aligned with major European and global trends such as Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Energy Storage, ICT, Biotechnology, Agri-food Industry 4.0, Bioeconomy, and Circular Economy.
In this context, following the High Technology Incubator in Bioeconomy and Circular Economy in Mérida and the Bioincubator specialized in Health and Life Sciences in Cáceres, the regional government continues to strengthen this network with the launch of a new incubator in Almendralejo.
